DRS TECHNOLOGIES | Job Title: CAD Drafter


Position Summary/Benefits

DRS seeks a full-time Computer Aided Design (CAD) Drafter to support various contracts within the International Division. The CAD Drafter will participate in all phases of the project life cycle including analysis, design, functional and technical specifications.

Duties And Responsibilities
·       Accurately represent physical objects in three dimensions in model space in Auto CAD.
·       Create technical drawings, blueprints and plans.
·       Aid in our quality control and testing procedures to ensure proper specifications are being met.
·       Manage, plan, schedule, communicate, facilitate, monitor, control and report on project-related tasks, and track the status of identified issues and risks.
·       Assist and work closely with both engineers and government personnel in accomplishing extensive research to determine materials and specifications necessary for project completion.
·       Manage multiple technical drawing libraries for a variety of customers utilizing multiple drawing standards.
·       All other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

·       High School diploma or GED plus minimum of Autodesk Certified User certification and five years of experience drafting/illustrating in the electrical, civil, HVAC, and/or electronics packaging field to include: Computerized drafting applications, digital imaging techniques, use of AutoCAD, planning and preparing graphic presentations of complex items or an Associate of Science degree from an accredited institution and three years of experience drafting/illustrating in the electrical, civil, HVAC, and/or electronics packaging field to include: Computerized drafting applications, digital imaging techniques, use of AutoCAD, planning and preparing graphic presentations of complex items.
·       Professional knowledge of drafting methods, procedures, and techniques, and use of CAD hardware and software.
·       Ability to work from example drawings or layouts that are complex and consisting of numerous and intricate details.
·       Excellent communications skills and resourcefulness in order to work with internal and external customers to obtain dimensions, determine materials, order of assembly, and design characteristics necessary to adequately portray the object.
·       Experience including developing functional requirements for complex integrated systems.
·       Experience building and maintaining material lists and bills of materials.
·       Familiar with DoD and ASME drawing standards.
·       Experience with DoD processes and procedures.
·       Proven experience with keeping large repositories of technical drawing data organized and under configuration control.
·       Demonstrates knowledge and discipline in the areas of configuration management, version control, file management, drawing object library management.
·       US Citizenship.
·       Candidates selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Candidates with an active DoD SECRET security clearance are preferred.
